How to call a Skype for Business user
Using Skype for BusinessLast updated April 11, 2017
If you are using a StarLeaf Cloud system (StarLeaf Cloud room system, GT Mini, desktop, Breeze, or a 3rd-party video system that is registered to the StarLeaf Cloud), you can have video calls with people who are using Skype for Business.
You have several options:
- Call the Skype for Business user: This is a point-to-point call rather than a scheduled meeting. You will need to ask them for their video address and then you can dial that address. This video address might include letters or numbers and symbols.
For example, on a GT Mini, press on the keypad (the star key) to reveal the keyboard where you can type the video address. Your display looks like this:
This method will work if that user’s Skype for Business deployment allows incoming calls from the Internet. The network configuration that is required (at the Skype for Business site) is described in the Skype for Business section
- Invite the Skype for Business user to a StarLeaf scheduled conference: Anyone who you invite to a scheduled conference receives all the information they need to join the conference and this includes information about joining from Skype for Business. For more information about creating a scheduled conference, refer to How to schedule a conference
This method will work if that user’s Skype for Business deployment allows outgoing calls to the Internet. The network configuration that is required (at the Skype for Business site) is described in the Skype for Business section
- Send the Skype for Business user a guest invite: If the above two methods have not worked for you, you can send the person a guest invite using the touchscreen controller or Breeze. The person will receive instructions by email. They can then use the Click-to-Call link to call you from a browser (or use any of the other methods available to them). For more information, refer to About guest invites
