How to specify a particular protocol for a call
Managing StarLeaf platform and traffic routing
Last updated February 27, 2020StarLeaf allows calls between different protocols: StarLeaf, H.323, Lync/Skype-for-Business, and SIP.
If a user dials [email protected], StarLeaf attempts to automatically determine which protocol to use for that call.
StarLeaf chooses the first appropriate protocol from this list:
- StarLeaf
- H.323
- Lync/Skype for Business
- SIP
This approach is very quick at automatically determining which protocol to use for a call and does not burden users with the need to know which protocol is preferred/required by the device to which they are calling.
However, it is possible to force a call from a StarLeaf device to use a particular protocol. To do so, prefix the address with the protocol to use, e.g. h323: lync: sip:
For example:
- to force a call to be a Lync/Skype for Business call, dial the following on your StarLeaf app or hardware room system:
lync:[email protected] - to force a call to be an H.323 call, dial the following on your StarLeaf app or hardware room system:
h323:[email protected] - to force a call to be a SIP call, dial the following on your StarLeaf app or hardware room system:
sip:[email protected]
