New features

Winter 2019 provides the following new features:

Live streaming

Live streaming is a broadcast of a Spotlight meeting. Anyone can access the live broadcast through a unique link that opens a web page with an embedded video player. This feature is useful if you want allow a wide audience to view a live meeting, discussion, or company update.

To use live streaming, your organization must have a Business or Enterprise Host license with StarLeaf.

Screen sharing enhancements on Windows

Winter 2019 introduces major improvements to the content sharing experience on StarLeaf for Windows.

You can now easily identify the screen that you are sharing by a green border. If you are using a single screen, StarLeaf app for Windows will turn into a mini call window as shown below.

Per room meeting privacy setting: for admins

As an admin, you can choose to hide all meeting titles on a per room basis. In the StarLeaf Portal, go to Room systems > Edit room system > Hide meeting titles.

Only the name of the meeting organizer appears beside the word Meeting on the touchscreen controller of a room system with the hide meeting titles setting enabled.

Recording retention policy: for admins

You can now set how long your organization’s recordings are stored in the StarLeaf Portal for. There are two options: they are stored until you manually delete them or stored for a specified time frame and automatically deleted after this.

To use this feature, in the StarLeaf Portal, go to Edit organization > Storage and recording > Keep recordings.

New SIP providers for VoiceConnect

StarLeaf has added Hexanet (FR), Pure IP (worldwide) and TetraVX (US) as supported SIP providers that you can choose to use when configuring VoiceConnect. For more information, go to About VoiceConnect PSTN SIP trunks.

Reference ID Description
10858 Internet Explorer 11: When you access a user page on the Portal using Internet Explorer 11, the time zone selection box automatically opens
11755 There is a BFCP interoperability issue between Cisco VCS and the StarLeaf Cloud which can cause screen share to be disabled mid call

Using Click-to-Call (WebRTC) in the Safari browser on OSX sometimes results in difficulties receiving shared content and dropped calls when the Safari tab is minimized for longer than 10 seconds. This is due to the AppNap feature on OSX that puts background applications to sleep if they are not in the foreground

Click-to-Call is not supported on Safari from version 11.2 onwards. This is due to changes in Safari that mean the browser no longer supports plugins. For more information on browser support and compatibility, refer to Click-to-Call

12067 In some circumstances, when a Skype for Business client attempts to add video or content into a StarLeaf meeting with no other video participants there can be unexpected call failure
