How StarLeaf for Teams works

All StarLeaf for Teams users see a StarLeaf icon in the Teams toolbar. From here, users can start or schedule StarLeaf meetings from any chat, group, or channel.

Everyone in the chat, group, or channel receives a message which contains information on the different ways to join the meeting, for example, with StarLeaf, from a StarLeaf room system, on a browser or phone.

Install StarLeaf for Teams

Prerequisites

  • StarLeaf account (if you do not have StarLeaf yet, you will be prompted to download it during the StarLeaf for Teams installation).
  • Users must be able to install apps from the Teams app store.

For the best experience, StarLeaf recommends that you download and sign into StarLeaf Scheduler for Office 365 if you do not have it yet. (Download here ).

Installation

  1. In your Microsoft Teams client.
  2. In the Search all field, type StarLeaf and select the StarLeaf app.
  3. Select the dropdown arrow next to Add (or Open if this is not the first-time installation).
  4. Select Add to a team.
  5. Search for a Team and Channel you want to add StarLeaf to and select Set up bot.
  6. Go to your Channel. A new message appears from StarLeaf bot as shown below and the StarLeaf for Teams icon appears in the conversation toolbar. Installation is complete.

Pin StarLeaf for Teams to your toolbar

  1. If the StarLeaf for Teams icon is not pinned in your conversation toolbar, select the three dots icon.
  2. Right-click on StarLeaf and select Pin.

User authentication

When you select the StarLeaf for Teams icon in the conversation toolbar for the first time, you must authenticate StarLeaf through your Office 365 account (if you have not already done this). This applies to all users and is only required for the first use.

Start or schedule a StarLeaf meeting in Teams

You can instantly start or schedule a StarLeaf meeting in your Teams channels, 1-to-1 chats, and group chats. Anyone in the chat or channel can join the meeting.

  1. Select the StarLeaf icon in your Teams conversation toolbar.
  2. Edit the meeting title if you need to, and select Start meeting to make it instantly joinable or Schedule for a future date/time.
  3. A message is posted into the Teams conversation which gives all members the joining details of the meeting.

Meetings in 1-to-1 and group chats

The example above shows a scheduled meeting in a team channel. You can start and schedule meetings in the same way in 1-to-1 and group chats:

  1. Select the StarLeaf icon in your conversation toolbar.
  2. Edit the meeting title if you need to, and select Start meeting to make it instantly joinable or Schedule for a future date/time.
  3. Press Send.
  4. A message is posted into the 1-to-1 or group chat which gives everyone the joining details of the meeting.
