For HDMI interfaces and DVI interfaces when used with a digital source, the cable
assembly (including any line couplers used) must comply with the requirements of a Category
2 cable as defined in the HDMI specification Version 1.3a. This includes meeting the following
maximum signal attenuation specifications:
Signal frequency maximum attenuation
825 MHz 5 dB
2,475 MHz 12 dB
4,125 MHz 20 dB
5,100 MHz 25 dB
The maximum length of cable for which these specifications are met depends on the quality of the cable.
However, it is unlikely that any cable achieves these specifications at a length greater than 15
meters unless active HDMI/DVI extenders are used. For a given cable quality, the use of passive line
couplers reduces the maximum length up to which these requirements are met.
HDMI interfaces are production tested using a 10 meter long cable from the following
Lindy 10m premium cable
DVI interfaces are production tested using an instance of the 5 meter DVI-I cable supplied with the product.
XLR connected microphones
StarLeaf supplies standard length XLR microphone cables. However, any good XLR cable works well. Testing at StarLeaf shows good results with up to 100m of high quality cable.
USB connected microphones
For USB connected microphones, maximum cable length is 5m. Cables should be marked 28AWG or thicker (lower numbers indicate a thicker core). Do not use any additional cable extenders.
StarLeaf C10 camera
Where a USB camera is used, the camera cable is 3m. Do not use any additional cable extenders.
Logitech C920 camera
Where a USB camera is used, the camera cable is 1.75m. Do not use any additional cable extenders.
Logitech C922 camera
Where a USB camera is used, the camera cable is 1.8m. Do not use any additional cable extenders.
StarLeaf Huddle cables
In the StarLeaf Huddle kit, you will find appropriate cables for connecting each component to the cable dock, power, or network. StarLeaf does not recommend that you use any alternative cables than what is provided in the kit.
The maximum length of these cables between components is illustrated below. When you are setting up your Huddle room, ensure that you place each component so that the cables in between can reach.
